1. VAT information.

With the right information, you can create your VAT statements at the touch of a button. For this purpose KLARA needs to know which method and type of accounting is necessary for your company.

Needed information: VAT number, settlement method (effective or balance tax rate), settlement type (collected or agreed), balance tax rates (if any).

Nice to know.

Depending on the type of settlement, you are required to submit your VAT to the Federal Tax Administration for each quarter or semester. If you do not know these details, you can request them from the trustee or the Federal Tax Administration. Please note: If your VAT details are not entered correctly, you will have to adjust all existing entries individually.


2. Bank accounts.

Once you have entered your bank account in KLARA, you can compare the bank transactions with your customer and supplier invoices and book all transactions.

Needed information: IBAN-Number

Nice to know.

There are three different ways to use accounts in KLARA.

  1. Bank account for salary payments: If you use KLARA Payroll, the salaries are automatically being executed from this account.
  2. Bank account for receivables: If you use the KLARA Order management, this account will be shown on your invoice and payment slips.
  3. Bank account for payables: If you use KLARA Accounting, this account is proposed as a default when posting documents.


3. Financial year.

Enter the company data for the fiscal year.

Needed information: Legal form, start and end date of your fiscal year.


4. Balance sheet.

An opening balance sheet must be recorded if your company has been in existence for more than one year. You can also create sub-accounts individually in each fiscal year.

Needed information: Closing balance sheet of the previous year (if not in the 1st financial year), statement of open receivables of the last financial year (debtors - including full names and addresses of each customer), statement of open payables of the last financial year (creditors - including full names and addresses of each supplier), account details for Transitory Assets & Liabilities

Nice to know.
  1. You can start with the accounting and transfer your opening balance later. However, you should do this before the first closing balance sheet at the very latest.
  2. With some balance sheet accounts, you have the possibility to keep specific sub-accounts.
